So the marketrisk might be bigger than you think, especially when more people trying to do this type of trade, which would result in substantial selling pressure once the shares have been granted.

If you buy 1000 shares at 11.47, imo to breakeven the stock should move to 10.8. I figured even if I only got my tender accepted in one account, I would still be fine given how insensitive the stock appeared to be to the announced tender. Given the stock is still comfortably above $19/share, that view seems to have been validated. hey 50% upside and perhaps 10% downside - you really can't beat those odds, particularly when you consider the high likelihood the Company was going to push forward on the tender.Lumpynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-289207246592440158.post-18047254675352239262011-11-05T15:21:44.323-07:002011-11-05T15:21:44.323-07:00Wow, Lumpy you got paid in all 3 accounts. I read the article and BrasilAgro seems like a great long term investment - what do you think?

Also, an interesting side - despite the spare farmland (7/8 of the total arable land, as you noted), economist Delfin Netto estimates that 90% of the agricultural success in the past 30 years was due to factor productivity, and only 10% from use of the spare farmland.blomkvisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16165284882025962037noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-289207246592440158.post-64946267895748603762010-10-30T12:32:37.990-07:002010-10-30T12:32:37.990-07:00Eric - thanks for your question. Although every bubble is different, I think the telltale signs of the euphoric stage include the following:
- Front page coverage with analysts and money managers coming up with ridiculous price targets (as evidence of this look at today's WSJ where one analyst is boldly proclaiming that gold could reach $10,000/ounce)
- Talk of "this time is different" or "we have entered a new paradigm".
- An increase in investing products that give retail investors easier access to the product (i.e. the proliferation of gold ETFs hitting the market). Once you see the retail flood of money entering the market, you can be pretty sure we are getting close to the end.
- The need to employ leverage to justify attractive returns (though not currently applicable to gold, this was certainly the case for investors in subprime MBS and CDOs)

Eric - hope this is helpful and thanks for reading my blog.Lumpy Investorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09134871823971138266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-289207246592440158.post-81796615967336330802010-10-28T01:53:21.299-07:002010-10-28T01:53:21.299-07:00What are some telltale signs of the "euphoric...What are some telltale signs of the "euphoric stage" characteristic of market tops?
